I use the tool from www.drivesnapshot.de, because I needed a solution for XP64.
Other tools allow to start the restore of the backup from within Windows and the Computer automatic restarts to do it. Drivesnapshot needs a boot disk for it. But since I can use a second machine to restore from a backup HDD to a new HDD, this is easy too. Also I like, that Drivesnapshot is very fast and compress the image. An image can easy explored as mounted drive.

Yay, why hello thar gentlemen!

It worked pretty well, my custom nlite copy directly installed all major drivers (expect sound) and set up the WLAN so i was online asap.

I reformatted (and swapped) two drives because i had originally given them 20GB each, thinking i wouldn't need more space and disk-maintenance tools would run quicker. Turns out I never used any disk-tools and had a hard time managing the puny space left
Don't forget the bookmarks...
Yeh everything Firefox/Internet related i took extra care of. You can include it into your XP setup with nlite as well, very handy.

Bummer, didn't think of that. Hope that doesn't give me too much trouble. XP surprisingly activated without any complaints, wasn't that easy last time. I can only assume MS got my Hardware checksum in their db now.

What can i do with it though? I surely didn't want a carbon copy of my slowly deteriorating OS. That's why i formatted.
