Ok I tried it out this weekend. My first tests look very promising. Im not getting what this guy is getting, but then again I am not using an $800.00 camera and $100.00 laser like he has.

Herve I see you in the David Forum. I will be signing up soon. Let me know if you give it a try and any tips you have.
Here is the setup I threw together with the 640x480 15fps webcam I have at home and a laser line we had laying around here in the office.
Not bad for the price, and I am hoping if I can get a better camera and laser I will be in good shape to get really detailed scans. After testing the auto align of the built in David software I went ahead and spent the $260.00 for the pro version that lets you save high resolution scans and gives you the shapefusion software that helps merge the scans. I tried using the free route with meshlab to merge the scans, but was very tedious compared to david scan shapefusion software that comes with pro license.
