Just wondering out aloud.

What makes a great 3D Visual to all of you?

I think we could have a thread here to share opinions and maybe show what we consider to be great images.

Just an idea....

Good Idea!

Of course its very individual, but as a photographer I tend to spend alot of time into the composition of the 3D visual, I try to have the same approach as if I'm taking a shot of architecture for example.

Of course the light in the scene matters, and at the end realistic and natrual materials.

So for me:

1. Composition
2. Light
3. Materials / render effects

Like in photography, i find that luma contrast is a necessary ingredient of great images. When ever i fail to get that into my renders (weak HDRI, emitter setup, perspective), they inevitably look cheap.

Apart from composition, atmosphere and camera angle.
Even the most dull model or scene can be turned into something stellar with these three made properly.

sure .. the comp..the light.. the... the blah blah... AND the super blah blah..

Man, what makes an image interesting to watch is the story behind ! when looking at an image.. one should be able to see the min. before.. and the min. after..

... and never forget.. have a good reason to make an image.. something to communicate..

Now that´ld be impossible to answer. :)

But to show examples, i believe a few of Marek Denkos renders could qualify.

Couldn't agree more!!! there must be a story which instantly communicates with the audience. The blah blah blah stuff is what supports the plot, the stage, and the characters themselves. (by characters i don't just mean actual characters, rather the character of the object/s rendered)

So, you have to have a good story before you can make a good image..... The story and the concept usually go hand in hand.....
