Just curious ...
Does Xara have the option to configure its shortcut keys ?

For example can you make it behave exactly like Illustrator (spacebar for panning and CTRL+= for zoom in ... etc) ?

Yes Xara has that option, you can configure your keys as you wish. Here's a screenshot of the config window inside Xara Xtreme Pro.
