Michael

Thank you. I shall continue my search from there.

With a bit of luck, by the weekend I shall have a modest beast of a machine! Compared to the single processor pile of junk I have been using up until now, that is!

Justbeen on your website. Love your surreal images. I'd forgotten how many you have made. keep up the good work!

All actual boards with intel 975x (workstation) or p965 (mainstream) chipset should be quadcore ready...

i would recommend one of the workstation series (975x)

ASUS P5W64 WS Professional http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3& ... odelmenu=1

- 8 Phase Power Design
- Heat-pipe Thermal solution
- Quad PCI-E x 16 slots

...and if you don't have too much money you can also take a q6600 and clock it to the same highs that a qx6700 can do... btw. in april the q6600 price will drop from ~750$ to ~500$

Thanks again everyone.

I have just ordered one of the ASUS boards. Ishould have all the parts tonight!

I am also buying a XFX GeForce 8800GTX grahics card(although I know this won't affect Maxwell too much) and 4gb of RAM.

Hopefully now I can experiment a little easier with my Maxwell.

Kentsfield, 4GB Ram, GF 8800, i'd aim for pretty much the same setup if didn't have a new system already. Definitely a good investment d7mcfc.

I think it's really nice to see mainstream, non-server motherboards supporting over 4GB RAM.

I guess we can thank Vista at least for that much.....
