Why is it so difficult to find a nightshot (interior or exterior) in Octane's gallery? Even 1-2 images representing light fixtures show no lights on...

I don't see reflections too.... Why? On the other hand I think none of my clients would notice that.

Btw, the main reason I would like to have GPU power, is extensive use of displacement... It is really difficult now... even with 2 I7 820 that I have...

The thread part from 28 May shows a render time comparsion between Vray and Octane:

I ask me how fast is Octane for interiors.

EDIT: Please don't oversee, the Octane test image of the link above is a biased rendering.

No specular reflections???

Actually there are. It just looks pretty flat because of the lowres hdri environment .

Waht I don't find anywhere - how are the rendering times in the same scene compared to Maxwell?
Is Octane worth it or should we stick to Maxwell for the time being?

JDHill wrote:Micha -- do I read correctly that the unbiased octane image in your post on the Rhino newsgroup rendered for 7m 41s?
Right, the screenshot show the render time. The other image with more noise was around 2min.

For me, a pure unbiased engine isn't so usefull, often I need so much speed as possible.

So, maybe you should look at Thea Render, especially this one...

I could even bet that they will be faster than NL...

The features and the road map looks good, but I miss the photoreal look at the most images.
Maybe it will be better in the future.

Thank you for the hint.

Nope. The reflection of the car in the surface object clearly lacks any specular reflection. Compare the reflection of the car to the car itself. Completely unrealistic.
