Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention... I also will give Modo another try when 401 is ready. My last try with Modo was V. 301 and I lost interest in it.

Bubbaloo wrote:Thanks, Jose. I just want to learn it for personal reasons. You know, increase my marketability. Not for work stuff. I am too fast with ACA and Max to switch. If I had time, I would like to learn many 3d softwares. Time and money, though...
Ok, if that is the case, I recommend you to take a look at www.3dbuzz.com
They have awesome tutos for free, I would start seeing the Houdini Fundamentals series. They start from the very very basics.

Not impressed with the modeling update, not at all. Looks like a minor scripting job.
The rest was great so far though.

What would get me excited is construction history. Animation capable mesh deformers etc.

Joris: :D that's right, i'm hooked on the partial update thingy Lux posts once a week. It's so exciting, kinda like winning the lottery each Friday of the week until the big jackpot is released.

Friday again, and another day with more news about the upcoming 401 release. Enjoy! :)

The profiles are nice. I like that Luxology adds very specific stuff like e.g. text-bevel. Very cosmic-blobish of them, but this makes creating simple stuff so much easier for the casual user.

Agree, profile tool is very nice indeed and so is mesh paint replica. Can't wait to make some condensation drops on bottles etc.

I think they are specially taking care of archviz clients with those modelling enhancements. Everybody will benefit, of course, but archviz people will be very happy. I had the feeling till now that Modo was not as good for archviz stuff as for industrial or character design and they are taking care of that situation IMO.

The coolest think is their new technology partners, Bentley, Dassault, Pixar, they are pushing luxology in different directions and that is in great benefit for Modo users. Also I like the fact they don't release a full SDK

I have wished for a plug-in in the past but personally don't see the need for it anymore. A sophisticated exporter will be enough, Maxwell Studio gives more features, control over plug-ins. After all I don't see Maxwell been used in full animation, So export geometry+Cameras to Studio, Render frames and then Composite on other...
I really don't see the point developing plug-ins for apps like SketchUp, Arhicad, Rhino when you have Studio IMO
