Here's my daily photo, i went into town to do some groceryshopping and this is what the sea still looks like up here, it's icecovered and we're almost in mid May now..

glebe: Heh, what's it like in Orkney now ? not like what you see from here i hope with ice and snow. But yes, weird enough it's summer here now since we had 20-25C the past week up until today when it was only about 15C. The ice is kinda thick up here so it takes a long time to dissapear.. in 2 weeks tho it should hopefully all be gone. To answer your question, the summer been going with full steam for approx 2-2½ weeks now.

You can laugh... on one of my trips (about 3 years ago), I was in the town (not near, not close-by, IN!) where SARS started. It was in the local papers for a long time. I asked my business partners there if they thought it was an issue. They said no, as the Chinese government said it wasn't a problem. They also would make life miserable for any newspaper that reported on the "flu" that had been going around...

When I got back to the states, I was very sick. My doctor did many, many tests, and never found anything... at the time, the WHO (World Health Organization, not the rock band) said that the "flu" that was spreading was NOT a serious health concern... we now know how much faith we should put in the WHO...

Anyway, I didn't have SARS (uh, duh!), but on subsequent trips, I was much more careful than I had been about where I breathed and what I touched (I actually got a bad case of rash on my hands from using so much anti-bacterial hand cleaner)...
