Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Since 1 year ago or more I've been testing different programs that could somehow replace Photoshop and 3dsmax in my workflow. For the first one I've found Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 (89$) and haven't missed anything from Photoshop yet.
For the second, I've tried to test Sketchup (probably with the next plugin it will be very usable), Blender (couldn't find the time or strength to go through it as I should but it is too different from max), FormZ, Modo (just starting with it lately), Silo,... Don't like BIM programs that much.
I can't make up my mind. There are so many things to take into account and so little time to make tests.

Full agree, to many software to test. I´ve tested archicad and time passed i must say i´m not happy with it, it´s too much limited and i like the possibility of be able to do whatever kind of project inside one platform. And that problem is the same for Cinema4d, i have to make my 2d drafting inside another platform and them rebuild from scratch within cinema. Since about two month i´ve been testing rhinoceros and i have to say i´m happy with it. It has really nice 2d drafting tools, better than autocad for me, and work with nurbs for architecture is really more easy and productive than polygonal software. Now trying to solve export issues, you know, there is no perfect software. And what about formZ ? are you still using it?.

Modo looks promising. I'm waiting for the Modo 301 book to be released soon. I don't think it will replace Max for my main app, though.

It looked very powerful at least with the modelling part. The demo expired and couldn't test much. :/

demo expired? as far as i know only expire the save or save as option but you can use the software with no time limit. How good are the 2d drafting tools? Can formZ be used like a unique app?, i mean, for 2d and 3d?.

Thanks fernando!

Uuh... ehhh You are right. I guess I got tired and finally uninstalled it. Maybe I give it another try. I think it was not cheap though.

I think 2D are quite good too (http://www.formz.com/products/formz/drafting.html) but there are some users in this forum that know better than me about it.

Look what I've just found:
How can this be? I found a free download of FormZ for Mac

Where's the windows version?

Thanks Fernando, you know what: i´ve just received my new macpro 8 cores, i mean, no problem with the mac version   . I believe that i will test formZ seriously. Another question, what is your workflow just now?

3dsmax > Maxwell through plugin. Pretty straight forward; I don't like changing from one app to another very much. That's why I resist to modo, but maybe Rhino or FormZ could do the job too.

 The download link looks quite small in size, maybe its just FormZ without Renderzone, but who needs it.
Enjoy your new super computer.

jespi,

if you are doing archvis, formZ is really a good app.
it needs a facelift, but if you look behind it it is really very powerful.
i use it in my daily work and am very happy with it. they have a very good supportive forum.
my workflow is usually from formZ to cinema, but with thew new animation available this might not be necessarx anymore (but i am used to this workflow and also use other renderapps besides maxwell)

so i would give a try.
it is said i needs some time though (i can´t judge this as i grew up with it)

hope this helps
