I am not sure how the 64 bit thing have an adverse affect of the Anti Virus Software?

Our IT dept is very stuck in its ways, and doesn't like to work around problems like that usually.

I am going to attempt to fight it!!!

another reason might be that dell doesn't supply many machines with the 64 bit system...

also xp 64 is on the way out and in there eyes getting something that is no longer going to be supported is more work for them...

may suggest that you find a freeware anti virus that works with the 64 reccomend that they get you vista....

also virus thing doesn't make sense.. because if only your computer for example was effected.... then if it spreads the other machines that are protected will recognize it so there should be no problems...

but getting a "super" fast comp with limited ram is kind of like the ferrari with only two tires.

I use the AVG free antivirus with my Vista64 system and it works great.
