I first experienced some problems regarding the color scheme nikon used when taking photos in raw/nef.
When I imported this into camera raw in adobe, adobe could not read all information stored in the file so they gave me a pale version without all my personal settings I've tuned in the camera. So I now use Nikons ViewNX to change the nef files into tif and then send them back to adobe before I do some editing, therefor I don't need to tweak almost anything accept to set a personal touch to them
I might have been a bit diffuse in my explanation but my workaround for all this lost information in adobes products are to use nikons own programs first. I then convert this nef file into a .tif to preserve personal and camera settings as sharpeness, contrast and such. With this method I can get the result that I get from my camera into PS with the ability to adjust kelvin or whatever with little loss in quality.Jeff Tamagini wrote:ludenhud wrote:Oh sorru dude, I missed that one out.Hervé wrote:Hey Nicey photos !!...Ludenhud... can we ask about you new workflow..

Nikon and Canon RAW files when importing into Camera Raw or Lightroom dont carry those in camera settings, all of those settings are for mainly for jpgs and the preview on the back, I know Nikon Capture NX and Canon Pro will both apply the setting to the raw file, but the raw files are just that raw when bringing into adobe. I am not sure about Camera Raw because I am a Lightroom user, but with lightroom Adobe has now developed settings that can be applied to your images that mimic those in camera presets, they wont mimic your custom ones but they will to the ones that come with the camera.

PS Nice images by the way!
