Bit of a dim question but... is it still the case that XP32 can't access more that 2 Gig of RAM?... so XP 64 is the best option for Maxwell?

No I haven't got it. I'll get it and add 8 Gig RAM, which should help.

Yes, any 32 bit OS can only access 2 GB per app. Definitely go for 64 bits and lots of RAM.
