Found an old timelapse on my server, i made a couple cleaner ones by now but they're too large to quickly upload. To not have it flicker you'd need constant exposure length or postwork*, there's also a variation in brightness in the mechanics/electronics themselves in ever shot.

Third party software allows for shorter intervals than the 5s set by Canon's EOS Software. 3s works safely with the 450D.

And eventually it'll kill your shutter, so slowly lay aside money for the next model :P

*there are some apps out there that can supposedly automate the process.
Your lens was dirty

hehe Nice timelapse ivox ! I got a pretty similar shoot too from my window : working with the contraints of Canon timelapse lol..

5s vs 3s : you mean too frequent capture will damage the shutter ? I played quite a lot with continuous shooting with low-res jpeg too, it can give interesting results !

No, just the total amount of shutter releases. Consumer grade Canon DSLRs are said to have a lifetime of about 50000 cycles +/- 50%. A proper timelapse consists of what, 2000 exposures? You do the math.

The ivox thing i take as a compliment :x

Yep it looks very exciting to be such a 'lowbudget' camera, if i can afford it next month i'm seriously gonna consider it. :)
I have also looked at the 7D which looks quite exciting, however it costs twice as much and it has almost the same features and functions as the 550D has, except for the fullframe thingy.
I'm not sure if it's worth it..

7D and 550D have pretty much identical sensor sizes. 7D is a 1.6 crop camera. 1D series is 1.3 crop and only 1Ds and 5 series are 1.0 "crop".

Yes i know, the sensors are very much alike eachother if they're not exactly the same. I also checked the imagequality between 550D and 7D and they both share pretty much the same imagequality, the differences are tiny. One thing that bugs me about the 550D was when i went to the store and quickly felt it, it was small and very lightweight. It has barely no mass, no weight compared to the other cameras and i'm concerned this low weight could cause instability when shooting stills and filming. Maybe a heavy batterypack will partially resolve this issue, i don't know..

What are you referring to with "full frame thingy" then if you know that the sensor sizes are the same?
