If this would´ve been a child, nobody would´ve argued about "punishments".

Here ya go. One of many stories on children and ultimate fighting.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=4534350

I like the line in the movie Terminator 2

John Connor: We're not gonna make it, are we? People, I mean.
The Terminator: It's in your nature to destroy yourselves.
John Connor: Yeah. Major drag, huh?

I try to hold to a steadfast rule of non-violence to any living creature if I can. I dont like to see any living thing suffer.

My point was, if those two guys were knocking up a small child after running him/her over with their car, most people would probably not oppose to my first "suggestion".

The example you´ve posted is not exactly comparable to animal cruelty.
It´s not very unlike martial arts practice which has been around for many years now.

Everybody with just a bit of humanistic education would oppose.
Justice in all European countries agree for the sake of human rights not to give criminals such a "taste of their own medicine"as you call it. At any time given, no matter what horrible deed (toward creatures of all kind) was the reason to be brought to court.

Well, than let´s hope these people will be just that.
Even though i still find 5 years in prison and $50000 in fines far to lenient...

I hardly ever comment topics but this one I found extremely disturbing.
Eventhough I don't second your idea of punishment Rudolf I fully share your anger and also shame. Everytime I see such cruelty I feel shame for being one of the humans - the only creature being capable of doing harm without any reason or just for "fun".

It is pity this kickboxer didn't try his skills with grizzly.

I wish animals could have their own forum to exhaust their own feelings. I bet it wouldn't be as polite as Rudolf did. Oh btw, as a new semen to the discussion I'd go for excluding box itself as a sport already. :P

Violence is not the issue here. Morality and humanity are the issues. All things were created through violence. How was the universe created? The Big Bang was the most violent act that we know of yet look what the results were. How are governments created? How about islands or mountains?

Being human means the ability to choose to act in loving kindness or hate and anger. It takes great discipline to act with love and respect for all creatures. That is not the easy road. The easy road is meanness and anger. It seems to be part of human nature, and sometimes even in the animal world you will see it... I think that is what sets us apart from all other creatures, the ability to control or change our very nature with the right amount of discipline. These kids do not seem to have this self discipline.

Here's a question:
Would the boy still have acted the way he did if he was alone that night instead of with friends? Probably not. Human nature and gang dynamics is a completely different subject.

So, what would be a proper response to an act like this? Some say violence (in varying forms  ). I say send him to a training camp of some sort to teach him self-discipline/self-respect. It will teach him much more than an ass pounding would... 8)

Bullfighting is shameful along with the Pamplona Bull Run. I am saddened that humans could get any kind of pleasure from this.

But that's a whole new debate. Expect this thread to be deleted very soon!

Hey! Don't mix violence with energetic acts. Violence needs energy but energetic actions doesn't have to be violent. My wife and me created our daughter with an "energetic action" but not with violence
