Can you elaborate on your problems with Rhino? I'm in the industrial product design field, and I use either Rhino, Solidworks, or Studio Tools for everything. Each software is good for different things, so I couldn't recommend one particular software. I've never used Moi3D, but I'm sure it's good also. IMHO, it's good to be familiar with as many softwares as you can get your hands on, as you never know what the next job is going to require.
INDEED and another reason is: One of the gets bankrupt or sold to "microsoft" you not gonna go down with them

I also used StudioTools+SolidWorks myself and was not implying that Moi is better than StudioTools, Moi is a baby infront of Studio. (I have a feeling is gonna grow to be a BIG BOY. I also have a feeling price it may be an issue for Carilo....

I understand, but my question was why is Calico no longer happy with Rhino? It sounds like he wants to move to something "better", but from what I've seen of Moi3D, it has at best the same functionality as Rhino but with a user friendly interface. The next step from Rhino would be to a product like Solidworks, PRO/E, Unigraphics, Studio Tools etc., which are industry standard for actually getting a paid job within industry. If he's doing it as a hobby for fun, I would think that Rhino (or Moi3D) would meet every modeling need.

Like I said I'm industrial designer (A F***** PRO) :D and I would like to get good flexible nurbs software without rhino deficiencies.
Has anyone commented Maya yet? I used Studio Tools when I was studying so that's is quite familiar and Maya seems to have same kind of user interface and it's "just" about 2.000€

Hey just one more thing.. how about Cadia???

I have Maya also, and it's NURBs abilities won't meet your needs. The toolset is OK, but it has practically no surface evaluation ability. I've never used Catia, but it is a very popular software in manufacturing. Also, you could check out that new Spaceclaim software, which seems to bring a great deal of flexibility to NURBs and solid modelers. Check out the video:

I guess you mean a proper boolean tree?

if rhino had a real history it would do almost anything I could think of...

Packages like catia or ugs are something completely different. If you want a flexible application these are not what you are looking for. I had the chance to attend a little catia workshop at university some years ago, and what the guy showed us was crazy stuff,.. this is a complete package, you could build a plane from scratch, and i mean the whole plane,.. has circutboard design, fem analysis, cnc-manufacturing, sheetmetal, lifecycle management, blabla..

..but with all the modules the price is a.s...t......r.........o...............n.........................o.............................m.......................................i............................................c

now two interesting things (i came across lately), if you have used rhino before and still want to use it in one or the other way:

as dilbert said, SpaceClaim really looks promising, and at 1000$(for the LT version), it is fair, imho
there is a special spaceclaim version for rhino called LTX:

http://www.spaceclaim.com/Products/Prod ... e.aspx#ltx
http://files.spaceclaim.com/Supported+Formats.pdf

and then maybe you wanna try this:

http://en.wiki.mcneel.com/default.aspx/ ... nPage.html

eases the lack of history in rhino a bit, and it is a lot of fun, all suddenly happening within rhino 8)

see here how it works:

I downloaded the SpaceClaim couple weeks ago, but haven't yet tried it - it looks very promising and I'm already considering to buy that thing.
I eventually will need them both, nurbs and solid tool so I have to get that SpaceClaim anyway but it wont solve my problem.
And hey thank's for that history tool polynurb.

It's annoying when you buy a software and then there's a list of plugins which make's it work. Of course it's great that there is these tools but
I want to buy fully functional tool and not any f***** wreck! I have tested T-Splines which seems to be a great plugin but it costs quite a lot.
When you start to buy these things, it will cost you. So...
would it be wise to just buy that damn Studio Tools and stop whining? :D

Not if you need easy Solid modeling capability. Studio Tools is a surface modeler, which is why I use it in conjunction with Solidworks and Rhino. If you want the highest control over your surfaces, with exact continuity evaluation/editing ability, then Studio Tools is the way to go. However, you'll still probably have to export your Studio Tools models to another software if you're using it for manufacturing etc.

As far as I know, there's no golden software out there yet that does everything that you need it to do. They all have their strengths and weaknesses.
