One thing I think you overlooked is your OS, to run that many processors you will need the Enterprise version of Windows which I think runs about $5000. Then you will have to deal with compatibility issues which is mainly why we decided not to go this rout.

Okay, .. that sucks and definitely a deal breaker.

If Windows doesn't offer some kind of version that's smaller enterprise oriented, ..like 1 person small (lol), ... they're running counter to what Intel is doing with multi-core. Something's gotta give ..... Can't we all just get along ?

Yea I was shocked when I found out that Windows SP will only support 2 physical processors because before that the quad or octa core systems were looking pretty good.

Okay, ... looking further now.

....but will Maxwell run on Server 2003 ?

Also, ... number of processors doesn't appear to translate to number of cores.

If you hover over his OS icon, it says, "Windows Server 2003 (64-bit)."

Newegg has it for $699.99 [1-4 CPU 5CLT Kit - OEM].

Yes, he uses Server 2003 64bit on his blades. That system beating us all is a single blade, not fair this world

Server 2003...imho, the best OS so far. I think I might've already told this once, but I had a small webserver running 2003. At one time, I had about 7 sites running on it, as well as my home/office network. Shortly after I got everything configured, the video card on this machine failed...some time around 4 months later, I finally got around to replacing it.

We looked at these quad and octa processor systems a few years ago when they were first coming out and from what I remember Enterprise was the OS recommended to us by XI. If Server 2003 will run it then that's great and it might put them back on the table for us.
