Im getting a new machine and was wondering if any one has used this card yet with Maxwell? I have also listed my specs for a new machine what do you guys think. Will the GTX 780 give good performance within Maxwell?

CPU: Single Xeon 8 core 2.0 ghz processor
Video: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780
Memory: 32 gig DDR3 1600MHz ECC
Boot Drive: 900GB 10k RPM 2.5" SAS 6gb/s Hard Drive
2nd Drive: 900GB 10k RPM 2.5" SAS 6gb/s Hard Drive

Maxwell doesn't really care what graphics card you have. The question is which one your 3d host app prefers.

For CPU performance, if you're going single socket you'd likely be better off with a 6 core i7 at higher clock rate like the 3930.

Any reason you're going with SAS drives? Does your motherboard support SAS?

dmeyer thanks for responding.This is a machine that i configured from dell. If I don't go with SAS drives what would you do for Drives? And i you overclock your processor won't that void any kind of warranty it may have on the processor?

Ah i was under the impression you were building it.

As for overclocking, that won't be an option really on a Dell. But even still, a 3.2 or 3.3 Ghz 6 core chip will be faster than an 8 core 2.0 ghz chip. The i7 3930 is 3.2 Ghz at stock speed.

8*2.0 = 16 Ghz
6*3.2 = 19.2 Ghz

The sweet spot for storage right now from a price/performance for a single user is an SSD drive for system/apps and 7200 RPM SATA drives for data.
