Hi guys,
I am doing a collage of a fairly simple building onto a dramatic landscape.
Would you have any advice as to how i could improve it or make it feel more real ?
Is there a good forum for anything related to Architectural Collages ?
Many thanks,
Arthur

Hi,

i think your perspektive doesn't match the photo and the sun seems to be behind the clouds in the foreground of the picture while you're having direct sunlight on youre model.

Thanks Numerobis,
Would you use a skydome instead of physical sky to get rid of the direct light ?
Would you know if there is a way on Maxwell or Rhino to make sure that the perspective is good ?
Cheers

- First of all, the house is not standing perpendicular to the road;
Maybe this is meant to be so, but it spoils the image/perspective.
- Looks like that picture was shot from the top of the hill;
If so, it means there should be some visible signs of the elevation on the house walls.
- As for the light, check the center-right part of the image - see those rocks being brighter than the rest of the ground? Looks like sun is shining from the top-right corner of the picture.
In your last pic, it looks like it's shining from the opposite side - from the left.

oh dear... i'm envisioning an epic battlefield scenario.... lots of plaid kilts strapped to scud missiles :mrgreen:

arthur, i think this is a little closer in terms of perspective, and possibly illumination as well?
all the boxes sit on the same Cartesian plane in model space, camera mapped inside of maxwell studio (eyeballed)
you can download the .mxs here, along with the .mxi and map used in the scene (created from your image) as a starting point if you wish.

the quick comp below blended two different illumination and shadow channels.
1. as shown with these IBL settings
2. as shown with illumination channel disabled, calling on physical sky
(FYI, "Plane1x1" is hidden from camera with shadow option enabled)

hope this helps...
