Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Correct me if I am wrong, but that seemed uncalled for.
I don't think so Jason. Tom tried to steer Max in the right direction, but Max chose not to take his good advice. A little frustration came through, maybe.

Yes, the facts have always been bitter but it's well known that CRT gamut is 85% and if the question is investing in something better one should not sacrifice from gamut just for sake of having two thin and sexy looking panels on the table. As Brian says, I'm trying to present technical facts. Color is and will always be important, no doubt. Some friends here surely have wide gamut monitors (e.g. Adobe98 and beyond...) and I wish I could have one, too. That's the right direction for someone who's professionally doing any kind of CG work. :)

Ok.. i searched a long time for displays with the specs you recommended Tom and there were non within my budget, i had to aim much lower and sacrifice things you consider important to be able to buy something, it was either this or stick to my old crt which has been dying for the past 3 years.
I may have made a bad choice but atleast it's me who get to suffer and not you so you should be happy.
Besides i'm neither a pro nor am i working with 2d/3d graphics for a living so spending thousands on a expensive monitor is not a must. Instead i made the bad choice of picking two so called 'sexy looking panels' to keep on my desk.

I apologize :(

The title says "a good LCD monitor under $750" under Maxwell Forum.
If it was posted elsewhere, I could suggest 2 cheap HD displays for this price instead of 1 good + pro + cheap one.
Glad now you have something newer than your old CRT, anyway.

Samsung T245 w/ wide color gamut:

as low as $608 here:

But of course, it you needed 2 displays, it's not possible to buy both under $750 at this quality.
Maybe most of the time you do modeling or other stuff and it doesn't really make a big difference.
I'm just way oversensitive with the color stuff and when my eyes reject the color I really cannot use it. That's my problem though...hehe
