In the new Opera 10.10 release they added a great new feature called Unite it allows you to share anything you want directly via the browser from your machine. Give it a try and see for yourselfs.

I guess you have to keep your computer always running if it's acting as a host for your website, right?

That's correct, you have to keep it running and online. But the thing is you can do this easily. there's also a chat and you can share pics, music ofcourse, videos so we could use it for free online tutorials. Sort of a one-by-one or a group of Maxwell users join in on a chatsession and then we can teach eachother stuff. Or just for chatting for fun!

Or if you wanna use it for work, instead of uploading new content to a ftpserver or webserver you can directly host it yourself and then easily show it off to your client and they can give you feedback directly via the chat about what you should change and so on. There are many ways to use this..
