That really depends on what you're gonna shoot .. portriat or landscape.
Mobility or photo quality comes first to you ?

I was a D80 user, with Nikon 12-24/4 for landscape shooting, it never disapoint me. While 18-200 VR is super cool for travelling, but photo quality is somehow, compromosed a bit, it's an all-around lenses afterall.

For portrait shooting, I'm using an old Nikon 35-70/2.8, it's so goodin sharpness and color tone.

Of course, prime lenses will always be appreciated if you want some more on quality.

I ended up getting the 18-200mm 3.3-6.5 and 50mm f1.8 lenses. I've been more than happy so far. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and information.

I also picked up another d80 over the weekend for my girlfriend. It came with a the kit lens and another (I believe 70-300mm) as well as a tripod and a bag for 500USD.

Thanks again!

Is that 70-300 featured with VR ?
Is so, congratulation, as it's a good tele lenses that spent you much less money than the 70-200 f/2.8 VR. :) , yet, the quality is superb.
