Is there anybody who successfully imports dwg files from AutoCad to Cinema 4d? Though in theory Cinema 4d 10.5 should eb able to import dwg files and I succeeded to do it as long as the file was not created in AotoCad, but for example in ArchiCad, I just do not get the import working with an AutoCad dwg.

I would very much appreciate any help.

If you want to export ArchiCAD geometry into Cinema4D, here's how you do it:
In ArchiCAD '3D View' save your geometry as .3ds file.
After you click 'Save', the 'Options' window will appear. I usually choose the first option - 'ArchiCAD native objects', or something like that, and set the units to mm (this one actually depends on 'import options' in Cinema4D).
Then go to Cinema and open the .3ds file and whatever you want with it. I also noticed that after switching to ArchiCAD 12, when opening the .3ds for the first time in Cinema, you need to delete the ArchiCAD sun, camera, and camera position (or something like that) - otherwise your geometry will be black and will fly all over the screen.

I've been using this method ever since, and never had problems with that 8)
Hope this helps.

The problem may be with the versioning of the dwg file and your AutoCad version. Try to save out the dwg to an older version and try that. If it isn't very complex geometry I usually use the oldest file format possible (dwg 2000 I think) and that usually works like a champ.
