basic reason of interest:

so my first question:
what the heck is the MAIN difference tween the series
• NVIDIA quadro fx
• NVIDIA geForce

?
i read the quadro fx are for CAD and not for gaming... but a little more precise ?

The last time I looked into this as near as I could tell it was this; the "CAD" cards (Quadro FX) have a pipeline that allows many windows to be open at a time. In Solidworks for instance it's not unusual to have many parts open as well as an assembly. The Quadro cards are designed with this in mind.

The GeForce (gaming cards) are designed with "one window" in mind i.e. playing a game.

That being said, I've run Solidworks 2008 on my laptop with a Geforce card. It ran just fine (I was impressed with how well it did) but at that moment I was only working on two parts and an assembly. I run Quadro's on my CAD machines; Quadro fx 4500 and an "old" 1100 that still kicks ass.

If you're on a budget and won't be doing lot's of parts in an assembly I think the Geforce cards are the way to go.

Hope this helps...
