Anyone running windows vista 64 with a nVidia geForce 8800 gt( or gts/ultra)

And got any problems and how is the HD output on that?

My questions come cus I am building new machines from Dell..

for my boss' new machiine
He wants to get a 64 bit Vista.. and dell wont customise a 64bit machinie with the nVidia geforce 8800- it only lets you do the nvidia quadroFX cards w vista/xp 64
.. you have to buy a xps system with vista 32 bit to get the gefore 880 option...

SO I want to buy the cheap card that comes withthe T3400 system and then buy a geForce 8800 online and put it in his machine..
So that he can have dual monitor out AND be ableto have HDTV ouput..

So if anyone is running vista 64 w the geforce8800 can you tell me how the hdtv out work on it as well..

OR if this is a bad forum to post this. can anyone give me a link to a forum that would have better answers..

thanks

I have dual boot setup for Xp and 64bit Vista ultimate.
Geforce 8800 gtx connected to Sanyo 720p projector (dvi - hdmi)
and HP 24" 1920x1200 monitor (dvi - dvi). No problems here.
Projector recognize signal as HD 720p.

First I had problems with sound in Vista, but now everything is working fine.

Mihai- ya I asked the dell guy workin with us and he said that if the card/ram i put in after purchase screwed up that they wouldnt come replace/fix any problems w/ those parts i put in - but it dont cancl the warrenty

Larsson- hey thnx for lettin me know that you got that geforce8800 w/ vist 64..
so your xp boot is 32 bit and vista is 64 right.. you do that to have xp as a backup for running software that dont run on v64 right

-what kind o problems have you had w/ software on vista that you need xp to run.. as i understand vista 64 shoud rn reg 32 bit apps just fine?no?..

whatabout running 3dsmax/maya withthat geforce8800 runs great? any opengl/ overlay issues

It's my home pc, so I'm not using Max or other work software with it.
Mostly playing games and watching movies. Old xp 32 is backup for
all compatibility issues. Vista to play directx 10 games :).

There was some sound issues with spdif output, but now that works fine.
I didn't know if there is going to be other problems, so it felt safer to keep
old xp still running. I can drop xp off anytime and continue to use Vista only.
Might do that soon. In our office machines we are still using xp 64bit and
I don't think we are going to Vista shortly.
