Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

I tested hypershot 2 days now and ... it's not realy faster than my Vray for Rhino and at interior shots it's realy slow.

For example after 5 minutes rendering of a notebook case in a HDRI environment the blury plastic material looks noisy and my Vray rendering was ready after 2m36s. Hypershot is not a graphic card renderer, it based on progressiv calculations ala VrayPPT/Fryrender/Maxwell, so it can not do wonder. Renderings in a HDRI environment are not time/quality critical at the most modern engines. From my experience the biggest problems of rendering are interiors, blury reflections and blury interreflections between objects.

The best of Hypershot is the simple interface and the easy to use HDRI environment workflow. It's phantastic - ground and background based on the HDRI texture match perfect.

I wonder me, why my tests give me a OpenGL look feeling. The same here:

It's seems to be not so easy to get a photoreal look allways.

Thanks for your comments Micha, but i'm a bit disappointed as i beleived it was an engine for realtime preview :( . Anyway, i will try it as soon as i get the download link and the licence.

You should change the tittle... it's neither "realtime" nor photorealistic

Check out the gallery. It's around $2500, but the results are very close to Maxwell, at probably faster speeds as it's hardware based. However, for me, the fluid workflow that Maxwell has created with the Rhino plugin is unbeatable. I'm totally happy with Maxwell, and will probably use it for years to come.
forget art vps... :?

i worked with their hardware (still have equipment). they are by far the slowest programmer i've ever seen. they just want to sell incredible expensive hardware to stupid users that have no idea how they benchmark !

forget them. they're gonna be extinct soon !

if interested in their hardware anyway... read some of the newer posts here:

this is the only art vps forum and it's dead in there...

if You want i can sell You my hardware for a very very good price. You'd have to buy the new drivers for the new renderpipe though.

I don't use Maya any more. I shifted from Maya to Alias Studio Tools which I just love, but there's no plugin for Maxwell, so I switched to Rhino for general modeling. If NL ever comes up with a plugin for Studio Tools, I'll be swtiching back in a heartbeat.

Don't go anywhere near ARTVPS's stuff it is a rip off!! I bought three renderdrives for £30 000, on the back of there claim of Maxwell quality bi directional GI. It never materialised. I sold my drives one year later for £10 000!! Biggest mistake in my business life.
