Does anybody know the difference between intel core2 extreme quad and the xeon quad processors? wich one is better for maxwell?

In a desktop scenario, ....you can't do better than a QX6800. The quad xeon 3.0's are the equivalent, ...but I haven't even seen them available other than that of being an option for the new Macpro's.(matter of time) Head to head they're probably matched, ...but that's not the point -- the point is having 2 xeon's under the hood. So the answer is quad Xeon, ...but that's also a $$$ thing -- naturally.

It's pretty much the same match-up as the QX6700 and the X5355(2.66), ..so I'd have to draw the same conclusion. ( all detailed nicely in the speed thread if you feel like reading )
