The first world is awash in make work projects - profilerating pointless crap that's so poorly made your lucky if it gets out of the packaging without breaking. Meanwhile, 1 billion are starving- and last year for the first time ever our resource consumption ratio (good to keep this below 1 folks) rose to 1.2:1
