Everything related to Maxwell Render and General Stuff that doesn't fit in other categories

Hello everyone,
I purchased a Maxwell 5 | Bundle - Floating - 1 GUI - Perpetual license, but no matter what I do, Maxwell Studio or Maxwell Render says that the product is not validly licensed. I have installed the RLM server, and it is running in the Task Manager. I also have the
maxwell_bundle.lic in the folder C:\ProgramData\Next Limit\Maxwell\licenses\v5 and the
floating.lic in the folder C:\Program Files\Next Limit\rlm.
Currently, I only have one PC (I bought the Floating license mainly for flexibility for later), so during the installation, I enter localhost and my port number. Is that correct? What am I doing wrong, or what can I do? Is there a PDF guide for how to install it?
Thanks for your help!
Best regards,
Paul

Thank you for your response and the link!

I was able to complete the installation successfully. With some help from Perplexity.ai, I found that the issue seemed to be caused by a problematic file called "libeay32.dll" located in "C:\Program Files\Next Limit\Maxwell Render 5". This file appears to be generated automatically during installation. Renaming it (e.g., to "libeay32.dll00") prevented it from being loaded, and afterwards, Maxwell launched and worked as expected.

Does that sound consistent with your experience, or has this been reported before?

Since I downloaded the installer directly from the official website, it's possible that this issue still exists in the current version. Perhaps the Maxwell team could look into it to prevent similar problems for other users.

Just out of curiosity: could disabling or removing this particular DLL file cause issues elsewhere in the software that I haven’t noticed yet?

Thanks again,
Best regards,
Paul

Disabling it doesn’t solve completely the problem.

You can start the software but some services inside the Maxwell Studio/Render suite could be unavailable.

You can find a copy of libeay32.dll online.

Just download and place it within the Maxwell render folder.

I faced the same problem recently too.

Sadly nearly 2 year has passed since the latest major Maxwell render release. So I doubt any official fix will be released any time soon

I had a new hard drive installed several months ago along with reinstalling Win 10Pro and other software, including Maxwell 5 and there weren't any problems with the re -installation of Maxwell. It could be Windows issue in your situation?

Hi Matteo, hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for your replies!

@Matteo – Good to know! I’ll try to find a clean version of libeay32.dll and see if that works better. Renaming the file worked fine for now.

@Mark – I'm on Windows 11 Pro, so maybe that’s part of the issue. Nice to hear it worked smoothly for you on Win 10.

I haven’t explored all the Maxwell tools yet, but it’s looking really good so far.
Thanks again for your help!

Best regards,
Paul
