I think I have read somewhere on this forum that we won't have any mac version before the 16th... :(
The positive side is that they 'll have the RC6 or 7 released by that time  , so far less bugs for us to struggle with.

I think the problem is the different release dates for mac an pc.
On the other hand: cooperative and network render on the mac.
Those topics make me feel in the shadows of maxwell.

One can't help feeling frustrated about this situation, but as far as I am concerned, I don't think it's so bad as a situation :

-bad point : no information, which leads to situations like this RC release, every OSX users waitin' for peanuts. But we also see that since this release, NL is much more communicating, which is a big change.

-NORMAL SITUATION (at least from my point of view) : we all know that they code and develop the app on PC. No surprise. We know that their first tests (both for renderengine and for plugs) are maybe always done through 3DSMax (because it happens that it's the app most of the crew is used to), which means PC again, as Max is not cross-platform. By these two acknowledgements, it's pretty obvious that PC and 3DSMax plugs are ready before everything else, because this is their developments tools, no?

Finally, I don't feel being in the shadow, I understand that they cannot finish each step of dev. at the same time for everyone. And as we still are in development period, ther is actually no need, from my point of view, in waiting that everything is at the same level to launch an update : if they choosed to wait for OSX to be ready for launching the RC1, of course it would have been released earlier than next week, but such a loss of time for such a crappy release, they would have lost all this week, which is a good one for them, since in a few days, we are 2 releases above this first step.

But for sure, they need to SAY "OSX users, you'll have to wait two more weeks for the update" next time it's to happen.

This is the case but it doesn't need to be like this. Take Modo for example. 98% of the code base is indentical and both versions come out at the same time. So apart from laziness or ignorance about Mac OS X development there is no valid reason for the delays.

Anyway, I'm over it for now and it would only waste OS X users time alpha testing the doggy doo doo that is the current RC3 release. I'm sure we've all got better things to do, like wait for MW Beta renders to finish :)

i'm not happy at all with the reactions from NL to our requests. i sent 2 emails to NL, one to alex (on december 3) and one to maya (on december 7) complaining about the OSX communication absence and asking about the possible release date, but i didn't get any reply until now. [edit: i finally got a reply and apology by maya this friday. apart from excusing for the inconveniences she cannot confirm any release date for the OSX version.]

i can understand to a certain point if a company sets priorities in developments for one platform, but then they nevertheless have to communicate with their customers about that in advance (stating clearly that priorities are set for windows/ 3dstudio max users) or charge the credit cards only when the software is finally delivered. still on their website everything is advertised as multiplatform and, ironically, even the apple logo is on top of the list!

I am in agreement with all of you, but what I don't want to happen is to have plug-in realease(C4D) and a OSX Studio release that may be "stable" core/code wise (according to NL), but then the interface has bugs stemming from the interface interaction with OSX. That could render ir just as useless, but there won't be anyway to tell unitl then ( since there are no RCs for us to test!)

I finally got approved to be part of the forum.

I have had a difficult exporting successfully from Sketchup. When I try to change the settings, it simply crashes. There isn't a lot of dcoumentation so I don't know what I am doing wrong.

I need to get renderings out.

What to do?

When is the program going to be ready?

I use a 3d drafting program called BOA and it needs help as well. It is a remarkable program that is Mac OS X only. I am in contact with the developers every week so I know they are making progress. I have no idea what's going on with Maxwell.

I want to see Maxwell work and live up to its promise.

What can I do to help?

wow 50 users are not happy with the OSX with the service... that's around 15,000 USD worth of clients, as an absolute minimum :)

please NL mac team (?), make us happy with a stable and functional OSX version! day more or less, no problem, but please make it usable. ...good work :)

Hello everyone,

Has anyone seen or hear anything about the Mac release dates.
Or anything for that matter.
Originally I had seen a posting for the 16TH DEC, for a Mac release,
but with so much bad stuff going on and coming out well I am sure they are trying to get one version to work correctly before releasing any other platforms.

NL don´t have the respect for the costumers and don´t say nothing... only lies or announcements hiding a lot of stuff... I don´t believe in any RC for mac this year only for 2006 if we have luck

another week passed, 68 users not happy with how their platform is supported (imagine them together standing shouting slogans in front of NL's offices, LOL) and still absolutely no reliable and extensive information or reaction. i start by myself to believe that we will not see and hear anything anymore this year. what a pain...

means lots of users will concentrate on other render engines with MUCH better and more friendly OSX support... you lightwave (and C4D!) OSX users know what i mean... fortunately, recently we HAVE other choices

Hello Everyone in the Mac Twilight Zone.
I have just received an email from Next Limit.
I thought everyone should see it.

"Dear Nigel,

Thank you for getting back to us. We understand you are eager to know when the Mac version will be released. We are improving now the RC5 version, as soon as we release it, we will deliver the Mac version soon after that.

I apologize for the inconveniences and would like to thank you for your understanding and support.
Best regards,

Maya Velasquez Watanabe"

Hello sub-costumers on mac side:

Received an e-mail from Maya (NL), maybe you would like to see. My english is not good enough but it looks she is making fun of me, just look at the end 'Should you need anything else, please let us know.' : )) At least she's having fun : )) just let me know when your're finished!

Here the e-mail: 'Dear Carlos,

Thank you for getting back to us. We are working hard to be able to deliver the 1.0 version as soon as possible and the Mac version will follow soon after.

It is weird that you are not receiving all our emails. Is it possible that they went to your junk mail box?

I apologize for any inconveniences and thank you for your patience. Should you need anything else, please let us know.
Best regards,

Maya Velasquez Watanabe'
