I'm trying to test MXI emitters in C4D on OS X. I can open the HDR in Maxwell and save it out as an mxi file. That part is straight forward.

Here are the steps I've taken so far in C4D:

1. Create large sphere to encompass the entire scene
2. Convert to editable object
3. Reverse normals (Doesn't work either way)
4. Apply Maxwell Emitter
5. Select MXI file in Maxwell Emitter tag
6. Try and render the scene

It doesn't matter what settings I use when converting the HDR to MXI or what Environment settings I use in the Cinemaxwell plug-in, I always get a completely black scene.

I then added a standard sphere as normal Maxwell Emitter with the large sphere and cranked up the Watts to 50000 and still the scene is completely black.

Has any sucessfully used an mxi emitter on OSX ? And yes I have all the latest versions of everything.

I had the same problem, you have to use a Cinema material as well in conjunction to the emitter so that it gets the UV coords!

It seems that whenever there's an image involved in the texturing process it needs a cinema material.

Happy rendering

Brilliant, I forgot to apply the Cinema material before converting to an editable object :(

Thanks for the help. Render is looking much better already :)
