recently ungraded to maxwell 4 and win 10. unlike win7 that let you turn off automatic updates (and eliminating the automatic restart, say when you leave a render for the weekend to see windows restarted the pc and render is lost...) win10 will not let you turn off updates. what's the best way to cancell it and losing a render that need to run at least a weekend?

you can pause updates

pause is only for a week. but that's bad solution, to keep pausing every week with 8 render computers....

i don't have problem like you and windows 10 give me the choice to shedule restart or restart when i want
which build of windows 10 you have ?
and it pause updates for 35 days not one week

yeah you're right it's 35 days, however still - I've googled about it and there are some registry editing or something to kill it. maybe I'll take a risk with one computer and see if it's ok.

old builds of windows 10 have this problem but they fix it in the last builds.

If you have win 10 pro, you can turn off automatic updates with group policy. It is under Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update\Configure Automatic Updates. There are a few other options that should enable to to prevent the computer from shutting down as well.
