Everything related to Maxwell Render and general stuff that doesn't fit in other categories.

Hi all,

No matter how many times I tell myself this, don't ever upgrade just before a deadline... Here I am on Sunday, working on an IT issue rather than rendering for tomorrow's meeting... I am hitting my head against the wall.

I just upgraded to v4, and am travelling. When I start the Maxwell Render app I get the following message:

Scanning C:\ProgramData\Next Limit\Maxwell\licenses folder for licenses
Processing file C:/ProgramData/Next Limit/Maxwell/licenses/activate1.lic
Processing file C:/ProgramData/Next Limit/Maxwell/licenses/maxwell_license.lic
Processing file C:/ProgramData/Next Limit/Maxwell/licenses/maxwell_rhino_floating.lic
Processing file C:/ProgramData/Next Limit/Maxwell/licenses/maxwell_suite_floating.lic
ERROR: - Error getting license, returned code : License server does not support this product
ERROR: - Maxwell has no valid license.
ERROR: - NO LICENSE PRESENT

Clearly the license server finds the licences. If I look at the contents of the "maxwell_rhino_floating.lic" I can see that it contains the license for my new V4 licences, so I don't understand what is going on!! Why is it saying this license server does not support this product???

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Tom.

I should add that I purchased a Maxwell/Rhino license - however I get asked to enter a license whether I try running the render from Rhino, or from maxwell.exe. Neither works. I can enter the license successfully (it gets added to the license file OK) , but I still get asked to enter a new license every time I try to run a render from inside Rhino.

FIXED, but the process needs fixing!

When the license is not found, the software asks if you want to install a license. I did this. Does not work. This is what drove me crazy, as I was doing what I was asked. For some reason this installs the wrong kind of license (perhaps only for the GIU versions?).

The way I got it to work was by downloading the license file from the portal under (my products), and putting it in the license directory.

IMHO this process needs tweaking...
