I got the same crash every time I hit Stop, what I do is quit (command + Q) the application, but really is a pain.
Sometimes I get Unexpectly Quits while the render is in progress (this never happen on Maxwell ALPHA). I manage a 1,016 KB file.

Actually I get crashes *during* rendering, a thing that never ever happened before. The scene loads, Voxelisation starts (feels slower than with the Alpha, but that might be some kind of optimation thing that speeds up rendeirng), Voxelisation ends fine.
Then Rendering starts (constant color changes in the field right beside the render/stop render button, I sometimes even get the image (all in black first) and then after some seconds, when I expect the first update, it crashes or from time to time it just stucks (pulse stopping completely for 20 minutes, then I lost patience).

It voxelises, it starts to render, but when it reaches level 4 or 6 it crashes.

BTW it DOES feel slower than the alpha...

Hi,

on my Mac (G5, 2 Ghz DP, OS 10.4) MR also crashes during the rendering process. I never got a finished picture. I think this version is just sort of a quick shot to keep the deadline they promised. I´ll switch back to MR alpha, and wait until the next beta is released.

Well I´m not happy too but this is still *BETA*. We should not forget about this.

I made a simple scene:
1 plane default
1 sphere default
1 camera with a maxwell camera tag

set sampling level to 4
when it goes from 2 to 4 it crashes (maxwell)

i did some first tests and sometimes i crashes, sometimes not. still have to find out when and what is the trigger, but looks not good .-(

using LW on OSX 10.3.9

To me it looks like the algorithm changed so you get fewer dots at the start, but with correct ighting - which is IMO a good thing.

However, I'm really angry that they released a beta that is obviously not capable of rendering even the most simple picts without crashing. This is worse than the Alpha, which I never got to crash.

Next week I will start a Maxwell Wiki for Maxwell Mac / Cinema. This kind of completely unstructured process is not acceptable anymore.

Maxwell is crashing here as well (2x2.5 g5 10.4.1)
Hitting stop crashes maxwell but it also crashes when rendering.
Funny thing is that it work fine on my laptop (1.25 g4 10.3.9)
