Folks - I have an interesting problem here:

V1.0 - MXCL does not launch by clicking on the dock icon or double-clicking the Maxwell.app icon; however, it does lauch from the command line within my Terminal shell and comes up as normal using the command line option "-d".

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

My license.dat has worked for beta and RC5, and because it works from the command line I figure the license isn't the issue. MXCL won't launch from Studio either, so something funky is up. I only have one copy of Maxwell on my machine, trash is empty, etc.

Thoughts? I am going to try the old standby - a fresh install - and see what happens.

Thanks,

kirk

Well, after a fresh install it lauches from MXStudio (iti did not previously) and I can drag and drop a ".mxs" file onto maxwell.app and it runs fine. Oh well.

happy rendering all, try not to OD on late night rendermania!

Mine won't launch from SketchUp. Can't even double click it on. Log says I have an invalid license. Never been a problem before. Studio works fine.

kirkt.

Did it work out after you deleted the RC5 or the Beta?

It happened the same to me until I did. Now it works fine.

MXCL is not launchable by double click, has always been like this. but it should run from studio. did you put a copy of your license.dat into the

/Contents/MacOS/

folder inside maxwell.app?

also, sometimes it helps to launch (by double click) one of the files in the 'content' folder within 'Maxwell' (the main folder). try 'nloffice.mxs'. this way OSX does know what to do with this kind of files.

last but not least, check your disk permissions with disk utility.

hope this helps.

EDIT: check that you don't have any additional copy of maxwell.app on your mac, even in the trash - this is causing lots of troubles! if you need to keep an old version zip/stuff it.

can the stuff be in a different folder, unzipped?

i have my older versions saved in the documents... will this make troubles? :?:

cl does not start by doubleclicking as Markus pointed out, but you can normally doubleclick any mxs file which will start rendering promptly.
thats how I worked all the time, to avoid the commandline hassle.

I should have said double clicking the sample file doesn't work. Looks like it will start then it closes and nothing happens. The log indicates I have an invalid license, but it's not any different than it was with any of the previous versions.

Never mind. I figured it out. It has been so long that I forgot about the additional license in the macOS folder. Works fine out of SketchUp

Let that be a lesson for all you kids out there. Idiots and Maxwell do not mix.
