I don't think so. My computer is a 2 X 2,5, and when I click the "nloffice.mxs" file in the "content" folder of the Max package Maxwell will start working (using both of the cpus).
It's only the "studio" that suggests it was running in the same network already. Which is definitely not the case as far as I am concerned.
