Hello there mgroeteke (and fellow do it-itself support group)

Where is NextLimit and the Maxwell heads.

Mgroeteke in the camera view window that you are going to preview first select the "Textured Decal" under Shader and you will get a checkered coloured box effect, the select preview and the render will start without out the yellow wash (most of the time).

Hello goncalo,

When you export from CD9 you are getting seperate objects within mxStudio, yes?
Are you exporting as ".obj" or something else?

I just download and install M~R for G4, it launch but...
1- The interface is soooooooooooooooooo slow (to rotate even a simple cube is a real pain), resize windows is slow too.
2- I can't create a new material.

This is for now...

I Can´t get separated objects exporting .obj from Modo......i have 7 layers with different surfaces, but when i import to studio.....only one object :(

I am having real trouble when exporting from Sketchup now.
If I try to export an MXS file it craashes.

Would you be so kind and to place a small running order of what process you do and how, step by step and I will see if I can follow it along to completion.

The trouble I am having is that mxStudio is not seeing most of the files I am exporting from SketchUp, Lightwave or modo?

While trying in desperate vain to bring in multiple types of models and versions from Lightwave and Sketchup I, mean it (Maxwell) has failed.

In the lsat attempt I tried to manipulate the camera from with using the move tools and the rotation tools, Maxwell Studio crashed out.

I am stopping now, I wonder can we bill Nextlimit for all this crazy time ...

new scene

import object - in this case 3ds

export object

in obj - click on options and there TRIANGULATE ALL FACES

i manipulate the camera rotate the object ... nothing crashes here

and is all fast

Hey folks - I have RC5 running on my dual 1.25 G4. I'm havng import object issues with LW objects, but worked around that for now. I'm testing the UV mapping (Projectors) and I have taken Mike Verta's advice and made the UV maps outside of Studio with a placeholder bitmap attached to the object in LW. In fact, everything seems to be okay:

1) I check the projector included with the imported object - it is "Locked", the designation for the imported UV map, and it is channel 0.

2) I make a material for the object and I set the reflectance channel to my bitmap image for the UV.

3) In the camera view, the "Textured Decal" view is correct, with the checkered UV Map Image I have selected in step "2" above.

4) I Preview the render in Studio (switching from Textured Decal to Preview also gets rid of that yellow cast on the Mac preview). All is well.

HOWEVER:

5) Here is the render in Maxwell, with physical sky (no sun):

Not good. The UV mapping surface appears to be 0% reflective.


Any thoughts? I also tried adding another layer to the material, a simple lambertian, white and a 50-50 weight map with the UV image map layer and still, no dice.

Here is what I get..

- LW triangulated .obj > UVmapper > export
- Loaded into Studio, assigned mats with triangle selection tools (White diffuse / Red ground / Wood).

- The wood map is applied on a LW UV.
- The ground is a projector with a tiled color / bump / spec BSDF weightmap

Studio Render (the ground sucks light more and more):

However during testing bump and weightmaps, preview became black too, while render was ok... so i don't know where it can come from.

So everything is not ok but it seems to work in some cases, which is better than nothing!
