sorry everyone: i didn' set the render threads to 4 in studio - i thought this setting is automatic. now i get 400% CPU average load on a powermac quad :)
I'm not sure it's fix, can you send that quad my way? just for testing and confirmation :wink:

Can you give me a bit of information here please.
I still can not load in any objects except for the default one in the maxwell download.
Can you please post me a small step of how you are bringing in .lwo 3ds or .obj into the scene and with what application you are using.
I have a default material set to all items and all of them are 3 point polygons, no ngons or subpatching.

By the way I am using either modo or Lightwave to make simple boxes and bringing them into Maxwell Studio. (with no sucess)

Make sure all other versions of Maxwell render is in the bin and also emptyed.
The mxStudio is the standalone application. Needs Licencing by as you correctly pointed out by going to HELP>Licence File.

By deleting the other versions of Maxwell it may free this issue up.
Make sure all older versions are also gone.

As for the Maxwell version this is not working it seems for everyone.

I have just noticed that there is no DOF information or any other on the camera window as it is indicated in the Manual page 33 "DOF"

Is this just me?

From Modo.

1- delete any morph map.

2 - freeze all Sub-D geometry. (from the Modo Tools Select the tab Curves then Freeze.

3 - Triangulate all geometry. Use the script tripleOrSpin.pl You can download it from here

4 - Export As >> OBJ

Import into Maxwell Studio.

I haven't tried to import any texture yet. I don't know if they are kept

I have just sucessfully imported an obj file from modo.
Into mxStudio, it is rendering right now, everything is very yellow, but thats another story.
I did nothing different this time except I did not give any object a name or material name.

Just incase this helps anyone.

Just came across this in the manual and thought it might help you.
I do not know the Terminal window very well but from there you can check that Maxwell is properly licenced.

"Type MXCL in the command line to see if Maxwell is properly installed"
Page 48 in the Manual, hope this helps.

As I said I do not know how to work the terminal window, I have always been scared of it.
There is a thread on the forum (MUST be the Mac area), where there is a list of what to do to find out if the Application is registered or working.
The Manual obviously just referrs to the PC operation if that is the case.

Have a look, if I find I will let you know.

Hey all,

Can anyone tell me if they are rendering.
if so On some Previews are you getting an overpowering Yellow in the Background instead of a blue Sky.

Also, I can only so far sucessfully bring in one model from modo all Triangles no material assigned, (3 different size boxes on a plane).
It is exported as an .obj file.
The whole file is treated as one object even though there are four, each on its own layer. So therefore I can only texture it as all one.
