Right, the sphere is invisible to cam, In this scene its only visible once its inside the glass.

tweaked for realism (hopefully);

Without sphere visibility it will be impossible to add bloom etc. when not using glass element.
Mihai, maybe an option for that in material?

Actually I was wrong, the bloom came back, not sure if its a bug or related to blur, because I also reduced the blur.

Also I was wrong about putting the spotlight and fill light inside the glass :oops: , only the emitter seen by camera needs to be inside the glass.
Is hide to ref not working now/ not working with spotlights? The glass piece casts a shadow whatever I do?

Anyway much better render although the look has been compromised now that the spotlight sits in front of the lens.
This solution is faster than using an enclosure and therefore much faster than a ies of equivalent sharpness. I wonder what the projector setting is useful for now we have spotlight?

Here is the map I painted, might be useful to someone;

One more test, the best result, was modelling as per reality, with the bulb+mirror surrounded by glass and then boosting the output by adding spotlights outside the glass.

Image I haven't matched the hues properly,.. just a test.

The problem here is that we need to see through the glass, so I cant see anyway to do that without allowing caustic light through the glass.

A possible speed-hack might be to use a yellow bulb and then hide the glass to GI, but hide-to-gi seems broken now?

Why does it seem broken? Please post a simple example in these cases. It's very difficult for developers to keep track of 3-4 different "bug" reports in a thread that's about something else. If you suspect it's broken, make a separate thread about it, even better with a simple scene and then there's a bigger chance it will be fixed if it is indeed broken.

Well I'm not sure.. I had a scene where I couldnt get it to work, but i also have a scene that does work. I'll look into it.
