Hello Jake & Make A

Morning time again. I have been using modo and Lightwave to export from.
modo 103 is the only one that has been sucessful so far. I can use ".obj" to import into mxStudio but then texturing is more awkward having to use the triangle selection tool.

I shall try SketchUp later on today and see if that works for me.

Hope today is more sucessful, that tip from Nextlimit works to kill all that yellow over bleed.

Nigel,

Yea SketchUp works fine as long as you export an .obj with the 'triangulate all' option selected.

Thanks for the tip on the yellow. I'll try that today when I get to work. It crashed a couple times when I chose the textured viewing mode.

Hello Jake-256

Are you using SketchUp 4 or 5 for the exporting the ".obj" file and are you doing anything else in the preferences.
I think I need to forget about Maxwell today, other work needs doing and all this lost time for a non working product, needs to be caught up.

Thanks for the posting, support and help.

Regards...

One other crazy thing.
has anyone had the ".obj" file just completely disappear from view.
Even though the data still ays 1 object in scene.?

This happens at times now if I move the camera angle or try to use the move or rotate tools that never seem to work correctly???

???????????     :?:
 :) :D  :? 8) :o :( :)

I'm using 5 Nigel. Make sure you have the triangulate box checked in the options before you export. Single sided materials, flip y-axis. Objects have been coming in very well for me. 3ds . . . that's another story. No go.

I haven't had anything disappear yet.

What I have been doing is grouping like materials. They come in fine as separate objects which I can manipulate and drop materials on very quickly.

Goncola,
I've been using SketchUp and everything has come in just as I grouped them in SketchUp. C4D may do it differently. If that's the case, turn off all but one object in C4D and export each separately. Repeat till the scene is reassembled.

Yea I downloaded it and am trying it on my powerbook. Everything seems to work fine although I had trouble with one material that didn't want to work. Pretty slow rendering.

The detached palettes are a pain. No way to bring them to the front once they are opened. They are always behing the main window, so you have to use expose to get to them.

Rendered this just as a quick test. The objects are all .OBJs, brought in individually and surfaed in Studio. I use Lightwave and I have had no success in bringing tripled .LWO objects in - silent failure with no object appearing in Studio (v. 7.5d or 8.5) nor have I been able to import .OBJs exported from LW (Studio crashes). I take the exported .OBJ from LW and bring it through UVMapper and then the object imports successfully.

This is the first time I've actually been able to try M~R so forgive the render - but, with a little MacGuyvering, it is possible. We're getting there...

Hey Jake-256

When your floating panel falls to the back.
Use this key combination and it will cycle through what ever floating paletts you have to the foreground.
"Shift+Command+~"

Hope it helps.

You have also to expand all groups and it works ;)
Not very confortable :?
In the Studio win version is possible to import also fbx, in the mac version is missing :(

Here is a WIP trying to sort out textures and importing .OBJs from LW:

not real convincing, but at least it rendered on a Mac!

Nice work fellas. So far I have found that UV textures work on my G5 and projectors are crash city. I have also found that a scene with instances in it won't render on my G5 and requires a 'quit application' to continue. Fans run nice though.
