Everything related to Maxwell Render and general stuff that doesn't fit in other categories.

HI,

My client wants sandblasted (sablé in French) glass on these lanterns. SO I don't need a bulb inside with some translucent material, I supposed, if it would render faster with just planes as emitters in the shape of the glass.

Does anyone have another strategie or idea for this?

Thanks

Peter

The effect is a bit 'flat' here, but can I do better?
And at what cost to render times?

Using the geometry of the glass should be fine.

You could also mask it a bit to give the look that the bulb doesn't illuminate the whole glass so uniformly or use a texture to give a similar effect.

Cheers!
