Everything related to Maxwell Render and general stuff that doesn't fit in other categories.
#388029
I installed new graphics card in system and somehow Maxwell can't detect correct VRAM on this GPU (which is 12GB).
Every time I load some finished scene in Maxwell Render (maxwell.exe) I can move sliders and viewport refresh in realtime,
but when I turn on Scattering in Simulens, Fast Preview turns off and following error pop-ups:

ERROR: - Error running GPU Simulens (-4): Disabling simulens. Disabling Fast Multilight Viewer.
ERROR: - OpenCL error: Memory allocation failure. Your GPU does not have enough memory.
ERROR: - OpenCL error: Cannot continue. Disabling Fast Preview.

GPU is NVIDIA GTX TITAN X 12GB

Could it be fixed ?

I tried debug it with simball scene - default setup, no changes, I just turned on MultiLight to Intensity mode.

Started from default camera resolution (500x500) everything worked perfectly. Sliders changes, simulens, tone mapping updates in realtime.

Then I increased resolution in steps and when the camera resolution was set to 1700x1700 it started. When I click on Scattering, FastML turns off and error shows in console :(

(there is no GPU intense program running in background which could affect the behavior of Maxwell)

Hi!

The problem could be the size of the memory allocation needed for simluens, rather than the whole amount of free memory available. I mean, you can have 10GB available on your GPU, but probably your card is not able to allocate memory for an image/buffer greater than 4096x4096 (256MB at most) or 8192x8192 (1GB at most).

I have to do some research to find out if there is a way to solve this in our side. Please be patience ;)
