Everything related to Maxwell Render and general stuff that doesn't fit in other categories.

Hello all:

I am doing some renderings for a client that requires huge images (24" x 36" at 300 dpi). The problem is every time I set the render resolution to 10800 x 7200, mxcl crashes shortly after voxelization (it never really fully completes, just freezes at 100% and crashes.) The highest resolution i've been able to render at is 6500 x 4850. I'm working with Maxwell 1.7 on a Power Mac dual G5 2.7 w/ 2gigs ram running OS X 10.4.

I have the render time set to 1200 minutes, SL is 17.

I've also tried on a windows machine running vista w/ 2 gigs, a dual core, etc and the same happens (except in stead of just crashing i get a C++ runtime error.)

Anyway, I suspect a memory shortage is the cause but maybe you can suggest some settings that might help get these renderings going. I appreciate it.

Also, if you have more than 3.8 GB in your PC (approximately), you will only be able to render a bigger image only if you use a 64-bit version of Maxwell running on a 64-bit OS.

In other words, try to render this on a PC or Mac with the most RAM at your site. If you have a PC or Mac with more than 4GB of RAM, make sure it is running either Windows (XP or Vista) 64-bit or Linux 64-bit and a 64-bit version of Maxwell.

Once you are able to render an image and Maxwell doesn't crash, use Bubbaloo's advice.

Good luck.
