So has anyone uncovered the issue with dots like these.....

I really need to sort this out and get back to rendering. I wondered if anyone might have experience with what causes this and how to avoid it.

Check the thread in the Mac subforum. Some people (though not all) report that the dots disappear if you add a second BSDF layer, even an empty one. Of course, it's just a minor compiler issue, sure to be fixed any day now.
