BMP works fine, either. Anyway the problem to me seems to affect only B/W images.

FZ 5.5 with RC5 plugin update from Feb 3rd.
Directly rendered to Maxwell.
No Studio.

Had to triangulate the model to get it to work...

I don't know what to say other than---what will be done?

Has anyone rendered a conplex scene. I am an architect and need it to render buildings with multiple light sources and create sun animations.

Will they explain how to get this right in terms of your modeling? (If that's the issue?)

or will they fix the software?

I want action on this because this is unacceptable!

I was able to get the G4 version of the render software to work after I trashed and reinstalled the license.

So it is functional.

Now can we get the quality we expect from Maxwell?

yes, there's hope .-) and they are working hard on the next FZ plugin already. i noticed that studio is very stable on my G5, which compensates a bit for the 'unfinished' GUI. my best workflow was to set up the camera, geometry in FZ then render and reload tha 'output.mxs' into studio. here you can refine materials, emitters, and camera settings. at the moment you have to use objects, but the support for layers export from FZ is near.

as for the geometry the most important thing is: you will have to triple al your polys. any 'bad' geometry is not well tolerated at the moment, so look out for coincidental planes etc. in formz, use the object doctor.

one more tip: if you have to fix a geometry, simply set the object you want to modify a sthe only visible in FZ, then hit render in the maxwell plug and add this to the existing scene in studio. sort of complicate, but works.

you can apply a texture to an object creating a projector for it (edit menu). Then have a look at the 'projections param table' and 'projections list' menus (window menu). here you are supposed to setup the mapping. if you are using a texture map in a material and your object has no projector set up, then maxwell's renderer will report. it's very easy once you read the manual, it's all in there :)

some of the materials are from the presets, others are constructed by experimentation. sorry, definitely to complicate to give you all the details here.
