Hi,

after some examination I get perfect results by taking care about some features. So far it is working only with emitters (no skys):

SW to maxwell core

1. when creating emitters do not use the temperature presets !!! choose a colour by your own and be sure that you choose one, do not leave the colour black !!!

2. scene scale: be sure to use the right scale, it seems that putting a wrong value here messing the whole thing up much more than with the beta.

3. hit render and enjoy ! ok the preview to tweak the lightning is not working, but you do not need it anyway if the light set is ok.

mxs to Studio

1. drag and drop the exported mxs to Maxwell Studio and be impressed how fast even big SW scenes get loaded.

2. in the 3d view move the view by the alt+mouse combination once before switching the view to the right camera.
never try to adjust the camera in the viewports - only change the view by the camera parameters (from/to)

3. start to render by pushing the render button or by choosing preview or render from the viewport tab. never hit it again while it renders, first click in the view to stop it.

after a bad start I must say I am impressed by the new engine.
good job guys !
juan could you please fix the light temperature bug and give us the sky back ?
since studio needs more time and development it would be great if you could also integrate the coating and bsdf in the material tab. (I hope you are allowed to?)

hope this helps - good luck and do not click too much in studio since there are too many crash-traps. set up everything in SW and just add some advanced materials in studio and push render.

Any chance of posting some images of how to create materials, I couldn't get anything out of it. Are there any preset materials?

Im not sure what you mean by scale setting. If I am using inches should it be set at anything other than 1? I was using 1 in the past, and everything worked nicely. I will try undoing the preset emitters to custom, and rewrite materials to see what that does.

I thought the preset emitters were what is causing the b and w renders. As soon as I changed mine to custom it rendered ok. From what I read a new version of the engine is supposed to come out this week, so you may want to hold off until then. The renderes coming out of this engine are poor compared to the quality the beta was at.

right Eric,

I also see a difference in quality....I hope this comes only from a lack of understanding how to tweak the settings in the new way.

So, is this a known issue?
