Hi,

I've installed 1.5 in win64 and then installed the sw64 plugin. However, no addin appeared.

I experimented by manually opening the sw2007.dll found in the maxwell plugins directory but received a few errors like "the maxwell plugin failed to register properly'.

After restarting SW the plugin now appears in my addin list but again I receive the error about failing to register properly.

Ok, I uninstalled the plugin and started over. It installs fine but unless I intervene it will not show up in the addin list - any ideas?

Hi b-kandor,

It seems that the registration process failed in your system. After loading it manually:
- Can you see the Maxwell menu?
- Can you see the Maxwell task pane (the material list, etc..)

Hi Juan,

If I open the dll manually in solidworks, then the addin appears in my addin list. If I activate the addin I receive several error messages about failing to register and also a message about the 'material control failed' (can't remember that error exactly).

This is with sw64-2007 premium sp3.1

edit: Juan, my system is dual boot with win32 and win64. The plugin loaded fine in win32 - but I wanted to mention that because the win64 install is dual boot it's install drive is F: Therefore all software like solidworks, maxwell etc. is installed to f:\program files\etc.

Maybe this makes a difference in the registration of the plugin?

Thanks,

Kandor

Hi Kandor,

There should not be a problem. There might be potential issues if you install both 32 bits and 64 bits versions of the plugin in the same win 64 bits machine but it is not your case. If you have a dual boot system it should work fine. All the problem is related to the fact that the 64 bits installer did not make its work fine in some systems and did not register one of the dlls properly. We are working on that and also we will provide you a workaround to register it manually.

Regards,

Juan

Thanks Juan,

Also, in the 32 bit plugin I saw this today in the command line. I erased it, and saved the settings - I'll see if it comes back.

Hi Juan,

I followed the manual installation instruction in winxp64 and the plugin is working now. I also tested saving an mxs of an assembly and also had no problem. :)

Note: the manual instructions list 2 files not present in the 64bit plugin archive.

AtCore4.dll
msjava.dll

Also, I don't believe the 32bit plugin has the atcore4.dll file either?

Ok, so the plugin is working fine loading assemblies? The code is exactly the same in both v32 and v64, the only difference is that you have a previous version installed in 32 bits. I have install SWsp3.1 and the v1.5 plugin in another 3 machines with very different setups and all of them work fine (sorry, I know it sounds like magic). It makes us to think that there is any issue installing v1.5 over v1.1 if the older one has not been properly uninstalled. We are trying to find why it just affects the loading assemblies process.

The 32 bits version also includes QtCore4.dll, is it not appearing in your installation?

Thanks a lot,

Juan

Hi Juan,

The only thing I did that may be different from others is after uninstalling the old plugin, I used regedit to delete the addin key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolidWorks\AddIns\.

I'm not using my 32bit install at the moment but I'll test as many variables as I can.

Here is my 64 bit plugin folder list:

03/29/2006 02:00 PM 206,848 glu32.dll
05/24/2007 04:58 PM 1,255 instructions.txt
05/21/2007 12:39 PM 3,051,691 maxwell-solidworks2007.pdf
05/24/2007 02:22 PM 3,740,160 maxwell2007.dll
03/29/2006 02:00 PM 1,150,976 opengl32.dll

03/20/2007 12:45 PM 8,048,640 qtgui4.dll
03/20/2007 12:45 PM 446,976 qtnetwork4.dll
03/20/2007 12:46 PM 207,872 qtopengl4.dll
05/24/2007 02:19 PM 3,089,920 swmaterials.dll
11 File(s) 22,118,290 bytes
2 Dir(s) 165,501,906,944 bytes free

The 32bit plugin folder is the same except it has the msjava.dll.
