Just downloaded and loaded - a few dialogues asking for temp files - :? just hit the 'x' button and proceeded - seems no problem . I did no unistall of the preveouse RC - just let the RC5 delete old files from the same directory c/program / Next Limit /....

Rendered out from the new plugin a rendering that took the beta 5 hours - RC5 did in 1hour. It used sunlight - yeahh :D Back to the good days of just hitting the render button :D

Sorry the image of a product not yet released to the public.

However I'll do a released product now.

So good news so far .

Well done designers/programmers at NL!

Particularly like the components coming into studio named and easily selected for material assignment from object and material lists.
Good selection of preset materials to play with.

This really is rendering a lot faster than Beta.......look forward to the OPTIMISATION!

Don't want to get too excited till I have seen one cooked and compared to Beta.

Should go to bed!......but with a new toy to play with????

Hello there,
Are you using the RC5 plugin for Solidworks or simply using Studio.
If exporting from SW, how do you proceed ?

Thanks

Both

I have used the plugin and the studio.

As I am not yet very clear about the material creation in studio - seems very complicated for an idiot like me - I have stuck to creating the materials in the plugin which are fine for my simple renderings.

If you want to create the rendering in the Studio, you have to use the plugin to create the *.mxs file. In the render section you will see the 'Render Paths' - MXS output Path - set that to a file and folder you want and then render. You just have to see that % export on the bootom right side and once it has exported the file you can quit the render and then open up Studio and onen the *.mxs file you have created - it imports the geometry and any cameras and materials you have created so you can further edit them or add further.

Hello Jonatha,

Thanks for answer.
Now I understand that Studio only takes meshes. How to you set the quality of the meshes in SW ? Does it simply take the image quality settings ?
Also I understand there is still no way to lay out textures properly in SW or is it posssible ?

Thanks

Hi Olivier and Jonathan,

Yes, it just take it, so easy ;) . With the latest update of the plugin ( I encourege you all to use it) there is a new option in the Maxwell menu to display the mesh in the Solidworks active viewport.

Yes you can texture in SW. You can launch the render automatically or load the mxs into Studio, it will read the textures that you have applied into SW and also you can add more texture channels. SW does allow to apply only a texture in each entity at the same time. For example if you want to put a wood texture and a noise texture over it in the same face, you can not do that into SW. In Studio you can create all the texture channels that you need.

Cheers,

Juan

So, is this a known issue?
