I'm really looking forward to the release 1 of Maxwell, those tests and render times on the announcements page look amazing.

http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8079

My wish list as follows, some of these may well be included in V1, in no particular order.

1. Support for decals, this may be dealt with in textures.

2. A different method of applying textures that doesn’t rely on SolidWorks textures. SolidWorks textures and there scaling / mapping issues are a pain in the-----. Rotating textures even 90 degrees is pain in SolidWorks. Applying a SolidWorks texture in an assembly even without Maxwell is a pain in the ----.

3. If textures and materials are applied in the soon to be released standalone, these materials textures will be automatically imported back into the SolidWorks Maxwell plug-in.

4. It would be possible to apply Maxwell textures to faces of parts in assemblies

5. The standalone material generator will be integrated into the SolidWorks plug-in. Material generation is the biggest frustration for me at the moment, lots of time in experimentation.

6. Now that Max will be able to render quickly, it would be nice if SolidWorks animator could output Maxwell frames like it can with Photoworks.

7. The plug-in would warn when overwriting mxs files, or at least there could be a switch allowing the waring to be turned on.

8. By right clicking in the material window, you could sort by name.

That’s my little list for the moment.

I prefer working with Maxwell over the frustration of working with PhotoWorks and I would like this opportunity to thank all the Maxwell team, especially Juan, for making a SolidWorks plug-in.

Thanks for listening, the people at SolidWorks could learn a lot from you people.

Hi John,
Many thanks for your comments :) It gives us forces to do it better.

Thanks a lot also for your feedback. Some of your wishes are going to be added in the standalone. Other will be added soon in next updates, we look foward provide you the best render. Most of the features that you will have in 3 weeks are so powerful that users can not imagine it yet.

Cheers,

Juan

I second what John said. I really appreciate the hard work that is being put into maxwell. I am very excited about the final release. I know it will be awesome.

Human psychology is funny. Two months ago I thought M~R Beta was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Now after all the teasers about 1.0 I don't even have the energy to make new renders (even though I need them), because I want to wait for 1.0 ;-)

Jesper - you're correct - how did you guess how I fealt - I'm just waiting - don't have the enthusiasm to use the current beta .

Same here. Im just waiting even though I have to get some stuff done for a presentation. It is a scene with a lot of dielectric parts, so I know version 1.0 would just plow right through it compared to the beta after seeing the tests. With the beta it took something like 20 hrs for it to clear at 1600 X 1200.

Yup same feeling here, the closer V1.0 day comes the less I want to use the Beta.

I have used it over the last couple of days, because I needed to impress a new client and I couldn't do that with PhotoWorks. It's frustrating as hell knowing that the renders I've made could be done in less than half the time in V1.0

I would kill to get a closer look at the material editor!
