Hello Forum Members and Moderators.

I am a University Student.I just recently got a version of Maxwell - Beta Educational Version.I am also using the Student version of Solidworks 2005- 2006.

I am having difficulties installing the plug in. As mentined earlier I have the 2005- 2006 version of solidworks which I think is more 2005 than 2006 as I don't think it has cameras.

I have installed Maxwell and registered it. I have the Max Viewer and Server on my Desktop. I extracted the plugin also to my desk to and attempted to open the file through Solidworks. The program then crashes.

My question is can I use the plug in? or do I have to extract and render in the stanalone( Is that the Maxwell Viewer??) I saw this mentinned in another topic post.

If so are there any links I should follow.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Time to surrender I would say :-)

Even if there was a binary compatible version that didn't crash you don't get anywhere without a camera. Unfortunately there is no way of running geometry extraction without the plugin, but that could maybe become a new ToDo on Juans list...

 aww man!! If this is the case. How much does solidworks 2006 sell for? Do I just get the basic version.( Do I have to get photoworks as well for Maxwell to work)

Any additional information will help.. also paypal donations for my newly created "Solidworks 2006 charity fund" will go a long way

Thanks Guys..

So just to confirm Solid Works 2005 aint worth beans when it comes to Maxwell Render.?

SolidWorks comes in several packages

1/ SolidWorks (is all you need for Maxwell)
2/ SolidWorks Office (Comes with PhotoWorks, Animator, Toolbox and utilities)
3/ SoildWorks Office Professional (As Office plus PDMWorks) the version I have.
4/ SolidWorks Office Premium (As Office Pro plus Cosmosworks-Designer)

You don't need Photoworks for Maxwell to work, PhotoWorks sux! PhotoWorks has a better GUI and has better intergration into SolidWorks but the output is a disaster.

Not too sure on how much it's going to cost, It was around $18,000 NZ about 4 years ago for office Pro around $12,000 for just SolidWorks. I think it's about half that now, the student version costs peanuts. However, the files created in the student version cannot be read in the commercial version.
