I have just unfortunately had to uninstall SW2006 beta as my main 2005 started crashing due to not finding a particular memory address.

After uninstalling 2006 beta - all is well again., unfortunately maxwell testing is a casualty of this.

What little use of Maxwell 2006 I did over the weekend was showing promise.

This is not meant as a critism, because by the very nature of any new product development it can apear as such.

Will the ability to have a 'tree' of the materials that are currently used in an assembly be possible.

Will decals be possible in the sw plugin or do we use a 'decal' as a texture?

Anyway - I await the real 2006 release before geting to grips with maxwell.

swmaxwell2006 can't be loaded in sw2005. But you don't need to uninstall it to go on using your 2005 main app. It is enough if you just disable swmaxwell2006 in your 2005 addins menu (tools->complements-> disable)
Anyway we will analyze the reasons of crash with older versions to fix it. thanks!

This is our main challenge for next releases. We will develop it as soon as possible.

Wheter i undertand you, you are talking about Photoworks decals, aren't you? well, it would be like if we extract mental ray settings in maya

Thanks for the info on the 2006-2005 conflict . It did not even cross my mind that maxwell was a cause - I just assumed it was the usual Solidworks unreliability !! and I am quite accustomed to 'chopping' out the defective version !! Comes with using SW since 97. :) My blood pressure does not even rise when this happens !

When I get a moment this weekend I'll re-install 2006beta and the Maxwell plugin.

Good luck with the Material Tree !! I am sure it is not easy but will be worth it.

I just mentioned decals - because it is one of the main things on a product
- Colour, texture, & Graphic Labels. The first two seemed to be under development but I have found no mention of how to do decals in the Maxwell plugin. Therefore the question.

Juan,

decals should be supported. In sw2006 we moved decals into core SolidWorks. So the information should be accessable. Its a big feature, and essential since it offers the best texture mapping in SolidWorks.

The only hitch is that Decals are only visable with PW loaded. and can only be applied with PW loaded... We did this becuase there were a few parts of the project that did not get finished, such as adding the decal into the solidworks Feature Manager. So we made the decision to only show them when PW was loaded.... I have been told that all decal information is stored in core SW information.

Give me a call or email and we can discuss. I did list this in a email I sent to Michael a while back. Send me your email address and I can email you directly.

Joe,
Nice to see you here again. Decals will be supported soon, we are trying to get the best texture mapping. We will go on improving features for the plugin. I will write you a mail so we can proceed with this conversation.
